440 Theatre are 4 Professional actors delivering an exciting, educational, engaging and energetic piece of theatre in 40 minutes! Performing in spaces great and small, our work is playful but never lacks focus. Our stories drive our vision as well as our van!
In 2021 440 received Arts Council England support to help develop their Production of Macbeth that toured nationally. 440 has grown to not only tour hilarious outdoor Shakespeare Double Bills but create and produce Children's Theatre in the form of their original piece, 'The Hogmoor Troll'.
440 are the first ever Associate Company of The Phoenix Theatre & Arts Centre. Together they are developing original work in their community and nationally including 'The Hogmoor Troll'.
Who is our work for?
Our work appeals to a huge age range. Our Shakespeare Double Bills are quintessentially British in their style of comedy. It's pantomime meets theatre in-the-park!
We advise that our show is suitable for audiences of four years and above in order to fully understand and appreciate the fast natured story telling. This however does not mean younger children can’t enjoy the larger-than-life characters and frenzy of our performance. The shows never will include any inappropriate language or depravities thus making the atmosphere suitable for all.
Why do we do it?
Our focus is to provide entertainment that allows both performer and audience member an equal share of control with the performance. The stories we tell include universal themes of love and hate, good and evil with the archetypal characters you’d expect to see in a Shakespeare play (with a few interesting additions!) We are offering style, delivery and most importantly camaraderie as our brand.
What do we offer?
We offer a bitesize piece of live action theatre with no compromise in quality.
Who could program 440 Theatre?
Theatres, Studio Spaces, Pubs, Garden Centres, Care Homes, Schools, Stately Homes, Fields, Car Parks; anywhere our audiences are willing to watch. Within 40 minutes you will feel like you have known us forever. We cater for professional theatres, outdoor spaces, private parties, corporate events, festivals and weddings
